Berkley Hills Wesleyan Church

Pastor Kyle, Shari, Jillian & Rachel Brown

I have a very strong sense of family, and am truly blessed for the one God has given me.  I was raised in a wonderful home with parents who showered my three brothers and me with love, support and a sense that we were created by God for a distinct purpose.  This strong sense of family instilled within me grew into a desire to have one of my own.

My wife and I grew up in the same home town of Brighton, MI.  I met Shari in typing class; I was a senior taking a blow off class and she was a smart
studious sophomore.  My wife is my best friend and the best road trip buddy I could have ever asked for on this journey called life. God has blessed us with two beautiful young girls; Jillian, otherwise known as "mini-me" because she looks so much like her father, and Rachel, "ginger" for her beautiful red hair.

I am a bit of a sports nut, with a die hard passion for the Detroit Pistons.  I love movies, going out to eat and reading but most of all I love anything I am doing with my family.

Paul, Sara, Kayleigh & Kinsey Krieg

Growing up as a small boy in Northern Indiana, I developed a love for the drums at age 5.  By age fifteen I was playing four instruments and spent my weekends playing professionally for a local theater.  It was also at age fifteen when a girl in computer class invited me to her youth group.  It was there that I met a loving group of teens and a youth pastor who introduced me to Jesus in a real and personal way.  From that point on, I wanted my students to be that girl for someone else and I wanted to be that youth pastor.

I met my beautiful wife Sara in 1999 when we were working as counselors at a summer camp for at risk inner-city kids.  We immediately became best friends and shared a passion to see kids give their lives to Christ.  We are blessed to have two young daughters, Kayleigh and Kinsey.  They have an amazing ability to turn any toy into a musical instrument!  Our favorite thing to do as a family is pack up the car and go home to Indiana to see our family.

Tom, Chris, Taylor & Marissa Augustat

What do you get when you mix a room full of energetic kids, gummy worms, silly string and basketballs?  The answer is my life.

My journey to children’s ministry has not been typical.  I graduated from Michigan State University in 1988.  While MSU probably isn’t a great choice for learning theology, it was a great place to learn new and improved ways to teach children.   I began teaching English at Lansing Christian Middle School.  Yes, Middle School.  They say you either love it or don’t and I certainly did.  One night after work, I joined our church single group for a game of volleyball.  Little did I know I would meet my future husband there.  Tom and I married and moved to Grand Rapids in 1991.   We have two children, Taylor and Marissa.  I chose to stay home while the kids were young.  When Marissa went to kindergarten, first I cried and then I listened to the new tug that God placed on my heart for the children of the world.   Since then I have used my education and my calling to create new ways to help kids come to Christ and be Jesus to the world.  I love their passion for God.  It is contagious.

When I’m not at work, my family and I enjoy camping, hiking and spending time with friends.  I love attending my kids’ sporting events.  To their embarrassment I am the loud mom in the stands.

Jerry & Terri Walker

To those of you who think I am young--thank you! For the rest of you--Truman was president when I was born. I grew up in Wisconsin, (which makes me a Packer fan), and lived in California. I graduated from a Wesleyan college. The day after I married Terri Abraham in Appleton, Wisconsin, we headed for Kansas City, Missouri where I attended the Nazarene Theological Seminary. After graduating in 1975, we pastored in Minnesota and were on Campus Crusade staff, serving churches in California. We moved to Grand Rapids to serve in the West Michigan District in an outreach to families with chemical addiction issues. Then I worked as a chaplain and counselor in area treatment centers. We have attended Berkley Hills for over twenty years, serving in various capacities.

I enjoy camping, hiking, biking, walking (Walker--get it?!), games, and antiquing; but most of all being with our kids and grandkids. Our favorite place to camp is in Walt Disney World, where we continue to make memories with our family
