WHAT IS UNITED

UNITED is a community of jr. high and high school students learning what it means to be ignited with Christ's love in order to spread that love and impact the world around them. Our goal is for students to live out everyday the things we discuss on Sundays - to live UNITED. We accomplish this through:
* laughing together during crazy contests and games
* openly sharing and discussing life issues in a small group setting
* giving students a chance to worship and lead worship
* providing opportunities to practice loving others through service projects

WHEN IS UNITED

UNITED meets Sunday nights from 6-8 p.m. during the school year. We start the 2012 year on January 8, and we also have random activities scheduled throughout the year - sledding, 30 Hour Famine, small group outings, etc. to further create a fun atmosphere and build stronger relationships.  We will be taking the following Sundays off for various holidays/school breaks - December 25, January 1, February 5, April 1, April 8, and  May 13.  Our last UNITED will be on Sunday, May 20.

WHERE IS UNITED

UNITED meets in the Lift Youth Room and has ping-pong, foosball, a basketball hoop, and a cafe to serve all your athletic and eating needs (among other things).  The first Sunday of the month, 6th-12th grades will be together for the UNITED Blitz - a time of worship, hanging out, eating, tournaments, etc.  The remaining Sundays of the month, all grades will meet at church at 6 p.m.  The 6th-8th grades will stay in the Lift, and 9-10th grades will head to a nearby leader's home; the 11th-12th grades will head to a separate leader's house.  Each home is within two miles of church.  We believe that significant change in students' lives are a direct result of God using caring adults to build meaningful relationships; this atmosphere and format gives us the best chance to do that!

GOING DEEPER

We are incredibly excited to offer students opportunities to dig deeper in their faith through various trips and outings.  One of our themes coming up is "Practice Generosity."  The students and leaders will do a type of service project each week for a month, and we will cap off the month with a 30 Hour Famine to raise funds and awareness for kids who struggle to have their basic needs met.  We are also excited to have our summer trips on the calendar.  Never the Same Camp is June 25-29 at Olivet Nazarene Universitey and is for grades 6-12 (click here for more information).  A mission trip to Arecibo, Puerto Rico is July 29-August 3 and is for grades 8-12.  Flyers with more information, deadlines, and cost are available on the UNITED table in the lobby and at UNITED Sunday evenings or click right here.

LEADERS

The UNITED leaders are an eclectic bunch of people who love God and are passionate about building relationships with youth. We are made up of college students, interns, young married couples, parents, and even a few doctors. All leaders undergo a background check prior to working with students.  It is our goal to use our various gifts and passions to provide a safe place for all youth - where they feel welcome, loved, and free to be themselves
