Knowing Jesus
"God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in loveālike Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love." - Ephesians 4:15-16 The Message
Spiritual growth is the life-long process of moving toward Jesus Christ and taking on His character. Real growth comes when we take our journey toward Christ-likeness seriously and work at it. It is a life of transformation, beginning at the time of birth into our new life in Christ and growing over time. Faith takes practice, and we are forever practicing our faith... learning, maturing, growing. Though a very personal process, spiritual growth occurs not in isolation, but in community as we encourage and learn from one other. God calls us His Church, this heterogeneous collection of people who share one purpose: to follow Christ and represent Him well.
Step One: Our first step is worship, the humble confession that God is our everything. When we worship in community, we join our lives together in a way that puts our own desires and differences aside and focuses on God. This simple act of worshipping together reminds us we are not alone in the journey. Our encouragement to you is to take step one and join us in worship on Sunday's at 9:15 and 11:00 am.
Step Two: Our second step in growing at Berkley is to spend time growing and cultivating our relationship with Jesus through daily time in prayer, reading His Word and acts of service. Each week we provide a tool, entitled, "seeds," to help you take this next step. Seeds is a daily growth plan created to help guide you in your time in God's Word, and ways to take next steps with the information you hear on Sunday mornings in the message. You can pick up your seeds each week in the foyer or click here to go to this week's Seeds.
Step Three: The third step in growing at Berkley is gathering together with others in the growth process. We offer many growth classes during the week, click here to see what Growth Classes we currently offer. Growth Groups are smaller communities of people that gather together to share their lives with one another and encourage and help one another grow. If you are interested in joining a growth group you can fill out click here to download the form and someone will be in contact with you about our groups.
